WATER SOURCE

Raw water owned by WFCWD'S is treated by the City of Fort Collins Water Treatment Facility, which receives our raw water from Horsetooth Reservoir via the Colorado-Big Thompson (C-BT) Project.  The Fort Collins Water Treatment Facility also has access to raw water from the Cache la Poudre River and water treated by the Soldier Canyon Filter Plant.  The Bureau of Reclamation created Horsetooth Reservoir in the 1940's.

WFCWD's raw C-BT water is from snow pack in the upper Colorado River Basin.  Snowmelt is collected in reservoirs on the western slope and diverted to Horsetooth Reservoir.  Northern Water manages the C-BT Project.  The Project oversees the delivery of water for agricultural, municipal and industrial uses to almost 1.5 million acres in northeastern Colorado.

WATER REPORTS

The City of Fort Collins Water Treatment Facility treats all the water that the District distributes. Occasionally our customers may receive a blend of water treated by Fort Collins Utilities and the Soldier Canyon Filter Plant (SCFP).  The SCFP is owned by Soldier Canyon Water Treatment Authority.  As a result, our annual water quality test results include reports from Utilities, SCFP and from our distribution system.
