HISTORICAL TRENDS

The Colorado-Big Thompson Project delivers our raw water to Horsetooth Reservoir.  Each spring Northern Water, who manages the Project, sets a water delivery quota which determines the amount of raw water available to the District for that water year. Over the last 20 years this quota has ranged from a high of 100% to a low of 50% with the average being close to 70%.  The Project sets the quota based on several key factors which include reservoir levels and snowpack.  More information about these two key factors available at

CONSERVATION TIPS

Avoid watering during the heat of the day to reduce evaporation.

Be aware of the weather forecast and avoid watering on rainy or windy days.

Keep grass mowed higher to shade roots and hold moisture.

Landscape with mulch to reduce the need for water.

Plant water-saving plants recommended for our dry climate.

Use water efficient drip irrigation systems.

WATER RESRICTIONS

The West Fort Collins Water District became a Wholesale/Consecutive Water System of the City of Fort Collins in 1964.  As a part of this agreement the District is required to follow any City issued water rationing and restrictions.
